The Division of Family and Community Health, Office of Lifespan Health is seeking a dynamic public health leader to join its team as the SD PLAN Nurse Consultant. SD PLAN is the Family Planning program in South Dakota which strives to expand health access in accordance to the Title X Program. Working under the supervision of the SD PLAN Program Director, the Nurse Consultant will display a strong professional knowledge of reproductive health, quality assurance, standards of medical practice, policy and procedure development, and health services delivery. This position works in collaboration with the entire OLH team to identify and implement evidence-based and evidence-informed strategies and practices to improve health outcomes for families.
Responsibilities of the Nurse Consultant include, but are not limited to:
- provide clinical support and guidance to the SD PLAN Program Director in order to advance the goals and objectives of the Title X Family Planning Program in South Dakota;
- lead quality improvement initiatives, monitoring the Family Planning electronic health record system, and clinical practice guidelines of the Family Planning Program;
- assist with grant and budget development and monitoring for Family Planning;
- lead training and outreach for Family Planning and community health services related to sexually transmitted infections;
- works in collaboration with the Family Planning Program Director to support clinical partners in delivering Family Planning services and work to ensure patients have a medical home.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must be licensed as Registered Nurse (RN) with the State of South Dakota.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Minimum of 3 years working in a healthcare setting; experience in health education; involvement in community engagement/outreach.
Knowledge of:
- public health principles and practices;
- maternal, infant, and child health;
- quality improvement processes and management;
- training and education;
- data analysis and interpretation;
- grant and budget development and monitoring.
Skills to:
- maintain a professional knowledge of evidence-based practices related to maternal and child health;
- excellent communication skills;
- creative and visionary thinking;
- use sound judgment, analysis, and discretion within the framework of defined policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
Ability to:
- develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external partners;
- set goals and priorities;
- work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
