This is a Full-Time 40 Hours Weekly position with the Department of Labor & Regulation. For more information on the Department of Labor & Regulation, please visit http://dlr.sd.gov .
Driver's License is required as this position involves extensive travel and some overnight stays will be expected. Be able to do on-site inspections, climb ladders in and out of construction site basements.
A plumbing inspector keeps the citizens of South Dakota safe by ensuring plumbing installations meet the requirements of the Uniform Plumbing Code. This position has daily contact with licensees and members of the public working under homeowner permits. Counties under covered include, but are not limited to: Beadle, Brookings, Brown, Clark, Codington, Day, Deuel, Grant, Hamlin, Kingsbury, Marshall,Roberts, Spink.
Licenses and Certifications:
Plumber level or Plumbing Contractor level.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
2 years of experience as a Plumber or Plumbing Contractor, ability to plan efficient inspection routes to minimize driving time, good time management skills, ability to effectively communicate.
- The Uniform Plumbing Code;
- applicable laws, rules, and local ordinances;
- governing plumbing regulations;
- governing plumbing installations.
- thoroughly inspect another's work.
- communicate clearly and effectively results of inspections.
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and licensees.
- plan inspection routes to ensure inspections are performed in a timely manner while minimizing driving time.
- apply the plumbing code during inspections of installations;
- computer and keyboarding to write understandable and sufficiently detailed reports;
- documenting discrepancies.
