The Office of Data Management Administrator performs specialized and advanced information collection, data analysis, strategy development, and process improvement functions to ensure the agency achieves their business goals specific to Department data collections and reporting. Duties may include:
  • Serve as an expert on Department technologies and coordinate with IT development teams.
  • Manage agency data -- specifically K12 student and staff information -- to provide reports and measures to aid in sound decision and policy making.
  • Lead the Department in managing the K12 Student Information System, the Personnel Record Form (PRF) K12 Staffing Information System, and various required collection solutions.
  • Coordinate with Department Statewide Longitudinal Data System to ensure effective and efficient data collection and reporting cycles.
  • Facilitate the accurate and reliable reporting of all federal reporting requirements that relate to K12 student and staff information.
  • Drive efforts to more effectively leverage tools and systems that the department already uses.
  • Collaborate with all divisions within the department, department IT vendors, and partner agencies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • A strong background and understanding of IT development and computer applications.
  • Familiarity with the operational tools and functions of Infinite Campus Student Information System.
  • Expertise and fluency in excel, or other data tools.
  • A process improvement mindset focused on successful execution of agency identified strategies and action plans.
  • Experience leading large projects, some project management certification or experience is preferred.
  • A bachelor's or associate degree is preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solution-orientated mindset.
  • Computer and data systems expertise.
  • Capability to implement changes to existing or new systems, procedures, and organizational changes.
  • Comfortability with presenting and delivering information to statewide district leaders.

Knowledge of:
  • business processes and data collection;
  • federal education data collection and reporting;
  • technology available to meet information system requirements; and
  • process improvement methodologies.

Skill to:
  • leverage Office 365 tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Visio, CoPilot, etc.);
  • digest and understand complex data infrastructure and system resources and documentation;
  • fluent navigation of student information systems and modules; and
  • create easy to use visualizations and resources for districts to use.

Ability to:
  • effectively problem solve to reach optimal solutions to business challenges;
  • manage large volumes of data to generate reports and measures to aid in sound business decisions and policy making;
  • communicate effectively with diverse groups;
  • explain and facilitate process improvement concepts;
  • provide effective project management;
  • prepare and submit regular project reports;
  • develop data management approaches for the agency; and
  • build consensus among teams.
