The Governor's Office of Economic Development is seeking a Media Coordinator to join a high-performing team dedicated to promoting South Dakota's economic growth and business-friendly environment. This position plays a key role in advancing Governor Rhoden's vision for a strong, safe, and free South Dakota by supporting GOED's mission to expand economic opportunities, attract investment, and support workforce development.
The Media Coordinator will be responsible for creating and managing digital content, developing compelling messaging for economic development initiatives, traveling to events across the state, and producing high-quality photo and video content. This individual will report to GOED's Communication Manager and collaborate closely with the Marketing Director and other GOED team members and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage content for GOED's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.)
Capture and edit photos and videos to highlight business success stories, workforce initiatives, and community development projects
Write press releases, blog posts, and marketing copy to support GOED campaigns
Travel to events, business visits, and community engagements across South Dakota
Support the planning and execution of media campaigns and public relations efforts
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and branding
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
photography and videography experience;
strong writing experience with a keen eye for detail and storytelling;
experience in managing multiple social media platforms;
experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc.);
ability to be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment;
passion for promoting South Dakota's economic development; and,
a willingness to travel extensively (at least 50% of the time).

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act. This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
