Position Description:
Interns will contribute and be trained as part of the wildlife damage team in northeastern SD. Primary duties involve working with private landowners in resolving wildlife depredation issues. These positions will be responsible for identifying and resolving crop damage to agricultural fields primarily from Canada geese, turkeys and deer. Problem solving, communication and the ability to manage a large number of complaints is critical to being successful in this position. Database management is also a critical role with the internship in order to manage a large complaint workload. Depredation tools that interns will learn to use and how they can reduce crop damage will be hazing, flagging, electric fencing, hunting seasons, natural vegetative buffers and others. Other duties may include regular equipment maintenance, assisting with waterfowl banding, conducting wildlife surveys and white-tailed deer telemetry. This particular internship has a great deal of responsibility and independence.

Qualifications :
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).

Preference will be given to applicants with a junior standing, South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.

Minimum Salary: $15.76
