GFP Intern - Park Management (Summer)

Position Title: Intern - Park Management

*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Intern will be working with fulltime staff, seasonal staff and volunteers to conduct and help oversee all aspects of the operations of a State Park or Recreation Area. Essential duties may include, but are not limited to: public relations, permit sales, fee collection, data collection for end of month reports, directing and assisting the park naturalist in programming, as well as the operation of tractors, mowers, and hand and power tools. Assist in landscaping projects, maintenance of equipment and facilities, and administrative duties.
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Having experience running various types of equipment, working as a team member and prior course work in natural resource management, business and horticulture would be helpful.
Minimum Salary: $17.19
