GFP Intern - Naturalist (Summer)

*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Under the direction of the District Park Supervisor and the Assistant Park Manager, the Intern will experience the duties of a Park Naturalist. Duties will include but not be limited to: planning and presenting programs at Roy Lake State Park and Sica Hollow State Park, working with social media to promote the above parks, and assist with special events at Fort Sisseton State Park. The programs will be geared towards youth and adults and will include outdoor education, environmental education, games, and contests to enhance the park visitor's experience.
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
An interest in Park Management and outdoor education is required. Ability to work independently, manage time well, and work in a variety of weather conditions. Good communications skilled are needed. Uniform shirts are provided and employees must comply with the uniform dress code. Valid driver's license is required.
Minimum Salary: $15.76
