Position Description: The Conservation Technician internship is designed to develop skills in grounds and facility operations and maintenance of a State Park or Recreation Area and other areas as assigned. Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following: herbicide applications to control noxious weeds in wildlands and turf, perform basic maintenance of grounds and facilities within the park boundaries, development of pollinator and wildlife food plots, tree cutting and pruning, operation of ATVs, UTVs, tractors, mowers, hand and power tools. Knowledge of noxious weed identification and pesticide application is preferred.
Applicant must attain a Commercial Applicators License, with appropriate endorsements, within 2 weeks of employment.

Qualifications : Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Minimum Salary: $14.69
