*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
This intern will assist Project Development staff in the implementation of a transportation planning program to assist small South Dakota communities (under 5,000 population) with the development of a multimodal community transportation plan, including bike, pedestrian, transit and traditional modes. The position will consist of both office work (including policy research, GIS and computer-generated mapping, planning and report generation) and work on site with the community (including site analysis, data gathering and public and stakeholder meetings). Some overnight travel will be required. Remote work is negotiable for some of the office work including policy research, GIS mapping, planning and report generation.
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to applicants with a junior standing, South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Preference will be given to students majoring in community or transportation planning, landscape architecture or civil engineering. The preferred intern will have completed coursework in community or transportation planning and multimodal transportation design studies. Preference will be given to students with GIS mapping capabilities.
Minimum Salary: $15.76
