DOT Intern - Transportation Engineering (Summer)

*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Position Description:Interns will be assigned to a variety of projects ranging from grading, concrete paving, asphalt surfacing and bridge construction. Their duties will consist of assisting the project technician and engineering staff with sampling and testing of the materials incorporated into the project along with inspection of the processes conducted for construction of the project. Their duties may also include assisting the survey crew. The interns will learn the processes required for conducting source documentation for payment of the quantities of material incorporated into the project and work conducted for construction of the project. Duties are primarily performed outdoors and may be physical in nature.
Qualifications:Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Minimum Salary: $16.89-$20.70
