DOT Intern - Transportation Engineering (Summer)

Position Description: Civil Engineering and Construction Management Engineering Interns that are enrolled in an approved Bachelor of Science program will be assigned to more skilled activities on survey crew or construction administration crew. Work depends on crew assignment but may include: project inspection activities, construction testing, surveying, construction inspection, contract administration, and project design.
All other applicants may perform activities on specialty crew, survey crew, maintenance crew or construction crew. Work depends on crew assignment but may include: project inspection activities, testing, setting stakes, running level and transit on survey crew, weighing and checking materials, flagging, repairing fences and signs, striping highways, repairing bridges and concrete, Right-of-Way clean-up, hand or machine mowing, driving truck, asphalt patching, sealing, weed spraying, painting, general clean up, transporting, loading and unloading materials. May also include collecting data for the Department's Asset Management Inventory.
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Minimum Salary: $16.89-$20.70
