DOT Intern - Geotechnical Engineering (Summer)

Position Title: Geotechnical Intern

*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Position Description: The purpose of this position is to assist the Geotechnical Engineering Activity staff with collecting, compiling and interpreting data associated with geotechnical investigations and instrumentation throughout the State. Tasks will include using computer software to generate reports and develop databases. Duties will require overnight travel and physical labor including hiking and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible work schedule and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Qualifications : Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
In addition, should be pursuing a degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
Minimum Salary: $16.89-$20.70
