The Office of the Secretary of State is currently seeking applicants for the position of Business Services Specialist. This position requires an individual with strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to multitask and work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional customer service and organizational skills are required.

Duties of this position include:
  • data entry for Uniform Commercial Code filings and Business Filings;
  • document retrieval for customer inquiries;
  • processing of payments; including credit cards, checks, and cash;
  • corporate entity business registration and report entry;
  • assist constituents (general public, state officials) with business office related phone calls and emails;
  • other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Knowledge of:
  • computer software applications, specifically Microsoft software programs;
  • modern office equipment, practices, and procedures;
  • maintenance of records and filing practices;
  • Secretary of State procedures and functions.

Ability to:
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships within the office, as well as other state government agencies and the general public;
  • learn principles of Uniform Commercial Code and Business Filings processes and procedures;
  • clearly and concisely communicate information;
  • operate a variety of office equipment;
  • effectively manage multiple tasks.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
