Position Title: Intern - Multimedia News Reporter

Location: Vermillion, Sioux Falls or Rapid City
*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Intern Reporter will: Learn and perform duties equal to those of an entry-level professional Multi-Media Reporter in a public radio/public media environment; Cover and report a variety of news stories in person, over internet, or over phone; write for broadcast and for web (sdpb.org); Gain experience producing and editing audio and/or video for broadcast and web using Adobe Audition, Final Cut Pro or other similar software; Will participate in live unscripted questions/answer interview (or "talkback") with show host; Host live news programs as needed and as skill level and aptitude allow; possible assignment with professional Radio/TV producers or reporters; Exercise basic news judgement; And have other duties as assigned. Summer Semester interns may be needed to work up to 40 hours/week and may be required to cover for regular staff during holidays and vacations.
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Classes in audio editing and basic news writing encouraged.
Minimum Salary: $15.76
