Legislative Audit, a department of the legislative branch of South Dakota state government, has an opportunity available for an Auditor to join our team of accountability professionals. This position will assist in auditing state government agencies or local governments by determining whether governments receive, control and expend money in accordance with law and prepare financial statements in accordance with the preparation of audit reports

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Positions are available for candidates with 0 - 2 years of experience who hold a bachelor's degree in accounting (or related business degree with major coursework in accounting). Ideal candidate will have earned 150 hours of college credits and be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • knowledge of auditing standards and accounting principles;
  • strong analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written communications;
  • ability to solve problems and articulate issues;
  • ability to provide timely and concise information to others;
  • ability to analyze and interpret financial reports.
