Summary:
As an Activities Leader in the Geriatric Program, you will work with nursing home residents, promoting social interactions, opportunities for leisure, and personal wellbeing while helping residents meet their goals. Activities may include one on one interventions as identified in individualized treatment plans and small groups of around five participants.
This position works primarily during evening hours (3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) with some flexibility and every other weekend rotation. The part-time position will work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Licenses and Certifications:
CNA certification or ability to pass CNA certification required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- experience working in a nursing home, with people with mental illness, and leading activities.
Knowledge of:
- mental illness;
- Dementia care;
- documentation methods;
- recreational activities in relation to resident and facility goals;
- leisure skills.
Skill to:
- plan, organize and facilitate recreational groups and individual sessions
Ability to:
- work effectively with residents of varying backgrounds, temperaments, and abilities in a therapeutic environment;
- establish and maintain professional relationships with residents and staff;
- manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities;
- demonstrate a high degree of self-direction and initiative;
- communicate and document information clearly and accurately;
- be a positive role model;
- demonstrate creativity and adaptability;
- effectively communicate with Supervisor regarding any problems, questions, or concerns.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
